Members of the Commission

 In accordance with the provisions of article 2 of Annex II to the Convention, "the Commission shall consist of twenty-one members who shall be experts in the field of geology, geophysics or hydrography, elected by States Parties to the Convention from among their nationals, having due regard to the need to ensure equitable geographical representation, who shall serve in their personal capacities".

    On 15, 16 and 17 June 2022, the Thirty-second Meeting of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea elected 20 members of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf for a term of five years, commencing on 16 June 2023 and ending on 15 June 2028.

On 2 June 2023, Mr. Mateusz Damrat resigned from the Commission before the beginning of his term on 16 June 2023. On 28 November 2023, the resumed Thirty-third Meeting of States Parties elected Mr. Michał Tomczak (Poland) for the remainder of the term of office, until 15 June 2028. On 26 December 2023, the Secretariat received a note verbale from the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, informing the Secretariat of the passing of Mr. Ivan Glumov on 20 December 2023. On 12 June 2024, the thirty-fourth Meeting of States Parties elected Mr. Artem Kireev (Russian Federation), for the remainder of the term of office, until 15 June 2028. One seat allocated to members from the Group of Eastern European States remains vacant due to a lack of nominations.

    On 28 June 2024, Mr. Miloud Loukili, resigned from the Commission.
