: Partial revised Submission by the Russian Federation


On 3 August 2015, the Russian Federation submitted to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, in accordance with Article 76, paragraph 8, of the Convention, and with reference to its Submission of 20 December 2001, information on the limits of the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles from the baselines from which the breadth of its territorial sea is measured in respect of the Arctic Ocean.

It is noted that the Convention entered into force for the Russian Federation on 11 April 1997. It is also noted that, on 27 June 2002, the Commission approved the Recommendations of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf in regard to the Submission made by the Russian Federation on 20 December 2001.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Commission, a communication is being circulated to all Member States of the United Nations, as well as States Parties to the Convention, in order to make public the executive summary of the partial revised submission, including all charts and coordinates contained in that summary.

The consideration of the partial revised submission made by the Russian Federation will be included in the provisional agenda of the next ordinary session of the Commission prepared in accordance with rule 5 and paragraph 2 of annex III to the Rules of Procedure of the Commission (CLCS/40/Rev.1).

Upon completion of the consideration of the submission, the Commission shall make recommendations pursuant to article 76 of the Convention.

Summary of the Recommendations (2023)

Pursuant to section V. paragraph 11 (3) of Annex III to the, Rules of Procedure of the Commission, the Summary of the Recommendations is hereby made public.

Addenda

On 31 March 2021, the Russian Federation submitted two Addenda to the 2015 partial revised Submission to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf in respect of the Arctic Ocean.

In accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Commission, as well as the decision of the Commission taken at its sixteenth session (CLCS/48, paragraphs 18 and 19), a communication is being circulated to all Member States of the United Nations and parties to the Convention, in order to make public the Addenda to the executive summary, including all charts and coordinates contained therein.
