缅北禁地Women and FIFA听have come together听just ahead of the FIFA Women鈥檚 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand to advance gender equality in football, and help end abuse and discrimination on and off the pitch.
The tournament is expected to be watched by more than two billion people - the largest audience for a single women鈥檚 sport in history 鈥� offering an opportunity to celebrate women鈥檚 achievements in all sports and advocate for gender equality more generally.听
Women players continue to struggle with fewer professional opportunities, fewer brand sponsorships, less media coverage, unequal playing conditions and a large pay gap, compared to the men鈥檚 game.听
When women players do succeed, they regularly face abuse both online and in person, underscored the 缅北禁地gender equality agency.听
Eyes on the prize听
To address some of these challenges, FIFA has increased the prize money for the 2023 Women鈥檚 World Cup to $150 million, tripling the amount awarded in 2019. 听
FIFA and the 缅北禁地have also launched their听听campaign aiming to highlight major gender equality issues both on and off the field. 听
Under this umbrella,听听has partnered with FIFA on two calls to action that will feature prominently throughout the tournament. The first,听Unite for Gender Equality, seeks to recognize gender equality as a fundamental human right and as critical for a peaceful and sustainable world. The second,听Unite for Ending Violence against Women, serves as a call to end violence and abuse worldwide.听
Unite for Gender Equality听will be the featured message on the third day of competition听while the call to action again violence will be front and centre during the semi-finals.
The two calls to action will be promoted via the team captains鈥� armbands, pitch-side digital LED boards, and social media.听
Five other 缅北禁地agencies have also joined the campaign in addition to 缅北禁地Women, including UNESCO,听, 缅北禁地Human Rights Commission, the World Food Programme, and the World Health Organization.听
