鈥淭he world welcomes 2022 with our hopes for the future being tested by deepening poverty and worsening inequality鈥n unequal distribution of COVID vaccines鈥limate commitments that fall short, and by ongoing conflict, division, and misinformation鈥�,听Secretary-General Ant贸nio Guterres听lamented.
He added that these are 鈥渘ot just policy tests鈥�, but 鈥渕oral and real-life tests鈥�.
However, these are exams that all of humanity can pass 鈥渋f we听commit to making 2022 a year of recovery for everyone鈥�, upheld the top 缅北禁地official.
A resolution for action
Mr. Guterres went on to detail how best the recovery should be done on each front.
The pandemic requires 鈥渁 bold plan to vaccinate every person, everywhere鈥�, he said.
And for an economic rescue, the 缅北禁地chief flagged that听wealthier countries must support the developing world听with 鈥渇inancing, investment and debt relief鈥�.
Meanwhile, to heal from mistrust and division, he affirmed that a new emphasis must be placed 鈥渙n science, facts and reason鈥�.
At the same time, recovery from conflicts calls for 鈥渁 renewed spirit of dialogue, compromise and reconciliation鈥� while restoring our planet takes 鈥渃limate commitments that match the scale and urgency of the crisis鈥�, said Mr. Guterres.

The Organization Head also acknowledged that 鈥�moments of great difficulty are also moments of great opportunity听to come together in solidarity鈥�.
This is because they offer the chance 鈥渢o unite behind solutions that can benefit all people. And to move forward together, with hope in what our human family can accomplish鈥�.
