As part of its programme of activities to promote a better understanding of the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement) and prepare for its entry into force, in line with General Assembly , the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea of the Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations (DOALOS) is planning to provide tailored technical assistance at the national level, upon request, to States in identifying challenges and opportunities in becoming parties to the Agreement, as well as actions for addressing key challenges, including through baseline studies, needs assessments and national multi-stakeholder workshops.
