The Ãå±±½ûµØDemocracy Fund's Advisory Board convened for its annual autumn meeting on October 17, 2023, where they greenlit UNDEF’s 18th annual call for proposals.
UNDEF’s annual call for proposals is now open from November 1 to November 30, 2023. Civil society organizations around the globe are invited to apply for grants up to US$ 200,000 for 2-year projects that increase civic space, empower civil society, promote human rights, and encourage the participation of all groups in democratic processes.
This year, UNDEF particularly encourages projects that champion civic engagement for Climate Action, with connections to the following focus areas:
• Rule of law and human rights
• Women's leadership
• Youth engagement
• Strengthening civil society's interaction with government
• Media and freedom of information
• Electoral processes
Proposals must be submitted online exclusively and can be in either English or French, the two working languages of the UN, via . Applicants can find comprehensive guidelines, FAQs, and for prospective applicants.
All proposals will undergo a rigorous selection process. Shortlisted applicants will have the opportunity to engage in negotiations for their project documents. If these negotiations are successfully concluded, proposals will receive formal approval for funding.
