Contains fixed-length data elements. Positions
00-11, 17,
29, 31,
38 and 39
are defined the same way for all formats in UNBIS, i.e., the
default settings. Fixed fields entered in 008 include the following:
Positions 00-05 Date of record creation. Computer generated in the pattern «Y³Û²Ñ²Ñ¶Ù¶Ù». Example: 040316 Position 06: Position 07:
Position 09: Position 10: Position 11:
The 130 field contains a collective series heading that applies to a group of separate publications and/or subseries. b = Multipart item. The 130 field contains a collective heading that applies to a multipart monographic publication. c = Series-like phrase. The 130 field contains a heading for a publication that does not fit any of the other defined codes but for which series-type treatment is required.

b = Unnumbered series. c = Numbering varies. n = Not applicable--the 130 heading is not a series heading.
Position 14:
b = Heading is not appropriate for use as a main or added entry. Note: All types of headings, except for series titles, are always coded «a» , appropriate for use as a main or added entry, no matter how they are used in a given bibliographic record. b = Heading is not appropriate for use as a subject added entry.
Series added entry. Indicates whether the heading is appropriate for use as a series added entry in bibliographic records.

Two different authors with the same name exist and there is no means of distinguishing between them.
