(Nairobi, 6 May 2023 ). The United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) held its first regular session for 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya, on 4 and 5 May 2023. The CEB session was generously hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, with the support of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) and United Nations Information Service, Nairobi (UNIS Nairobi).

The CEB is the longest-standing and highest-level coordination forum of the United Nations system. The Board, chaired by the United Nations Secretary-General, meets twice a year and brings together Executive Heads of the United Nations, its 12 Funds and Programmes, the 15 Specialized Agencies and 3 related organizations. ?The CEB serves as an internal coordination mechanism that provides high-level system-wide strategic guidance, promotes coherent leadership, shared vision and enhanced cooperation, and considers forward-looking solutions in response to mandates stemming from the governing bodies of its member organizations.

UNIS Nairobi offered communications, photography services and social media support to the Secretary-General on 3 May where he participated in a range of activities, including the launch of the UNON reforestation project, ground-breaking for the new office building and a staff townhall.? More than 1000 缅北禁地staff members and 60 journalists attended both the town hall and press briefings. The SG visit was covered by both local and international media.
