Behind the Scenes of the United Nations General Assembly: Yoshita Singh, Chief Correspondent for the Press Trust of India

The world's largest gathering of international dignitaries is held in September each year at?United Nations Headquarters in New York City! In this series we introduce some of the people behind the scenes of the �山��General Assembly who make what has been called the World Cup of Diplomacy happen! Over the course of the series we'll get a firsthand glimpse into various departments within the �山��and how they prepare for some of the busiest weeks of the year at the United Nations.

Journalists and correspondents play a critical role as the eyes and ears of the general public and cover a wide range of issues for their media outlets, both traditional and digital. During the General Debate of the �山��General Assembly more than 3000 accredited journalists are on hand to cover the two week period in which every speech has the potential to be breaking news. It's a hectic time for the journalists responsible for informing their audiences about what is happening on the multilateral stage and they have to stay up to the minute not only on the General Debate, but hundreds of side events and activities taking place on the margins of the General Assembly Hall.??

Yoshita Singh, Chief Correspondent for the Press Trust of India at the UN, took time to speak with us about what makes covering the �山��General Assembly as a journalist so special, including some of the challenges and the moments she witnessed at the �山��General Assembly that will stay with her forever.
