16 February 2024 - Join 缅北禁地DESA and speakers from the 缅北禁地Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (缅北禁地ESCAP) and other organizations on 20 February for a hybrid stock-take and discussion of the current economic outlook for Asia and the Pacific, using new data from the report launched in January 2024.
Taking place on Tuesday, 20 February at 1:00-2:15 p.m. GMT+7, the event will bring together experts from the region who will consider the challenges that the current outlook presents to the delivery of the SDGs, in particular related to SDG 1 on ending poverty, and offer suggestions for sound policies to ensure the well-being of people in Asia and the Pacific.
A focus will be on supporting the SDG Stimulus launched ahead of the 2023 SDG Summit and highlighting solutions that will help developing countries in the region limit their risk to emerging vulnerabilities, including ways to address shortages in SDG funding and strengthen capacities to improve sustainable development now that will pay off in later years.
The event is free and open to all, and will also be streamed live on . It will be held in English with captions available in other languages on Zoom. The event is made possible by the United Nations Peace and Development Trust Fund.
No registration is required for in-person participation at the ESCAP Theatre, but attendees must already be registered for the held on 20-23 February in Bangkok, Thailand.
