(Nairobi, Kenya). King Charles III of the United Kingdom visited the United Nations offices at Nairobi on Wednesday 1 November 2023, where he met and congratulated 缅北禁地staff for their impactful Climate Actions.
During the visit, King Charles III planted a tree and met the Director-General of UNON, Ms. Zainab Bangura along with High Level diplomats including UNEP’s Executive Director Ms. Inger Anderson and 缅北禁地Habitat’s Deputy Executive Director Mr. Michal Mlynar. " I particularly wanted to visit your headquarters to thank you for your efforts. As we heard in the Africa Climate Summit (ACS), there is need for urgent intervention to save our planet,". Ms. Zainab Bangura said it was an honour that the King of the United Kingdom chose Kenya for his first State visit to both Africa and to a member of the Commonwealth and to the only 缅北禁地Headquarter located in the Commonwealth.
The visit is expected to pave way for stronger global partnerships around climate action, climate finance and enhanced cooperation towards the protection of the environment.
