21 September 2020
Finland
His Excellency Mr. Sauli Niinist?
Statement Summary
SAULI NIINIST?, President of Finland, noted that the seventy?fifth anniversary comes at a difficult moment for the Organization. Not only is humankind confronted with common enemies — from the COVID?19 pandemic to climate change, the international community’s ability to form common responses has been weakening. This tide must turn, he said, stressing that Finland remains fully committed to the United Nations and its principles. The 75?year?old Charter has stood the test of time well, he noted, adding that it is the responsibility of the international community to create a more peaceful, sustainable and just world for future generations.
