LDCs
Nepal has taken over as Chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) after five years of stewardship by Malawi.
At a ceremony at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City on April 5, the Permanent Representative of Malawi, Amb. Agnes Chimbiri-Molande, handed the chairmanship to Amb. Amrit Bahadur Rai of Nepal.
Disasters, climate change and environmental degradation are reshaping both patterns of water availability and human mobility patterns. In 2021 alone, 23.7 million new displacements in the context of disasters were registered across the world. Out of the 23.7 million, 10.1 million happened in the context of floods, 11.5 in the context of storms.

Background
UN-OHRLLS, with the support of Canada, has launched an initiative which seeks to take stock of Least Developed Countries' (LDCs) access to multilateral sources of funding. It also aims to facilitate knowledge sharing amongst LDCs on best practices for increasing access to international financial resources.
