The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented human tragedy whose health and economic consequences will exacerbate the dramatic disruptions in the life of millions of people.

The pandemic emerged at a time when the world was already on an unsustainable path of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
