Kai Bethke
Kai Bethke is currently the Director of Member States and Funding Relations at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), a position he has held since October 2022.
Prior to this, he worked in several other leadership positions at UNIDO, including Director of External Relations from September 2017 to September 2022 and Director of the Office of Independent Evaluation and Quality Monitoring from November 2016 to September 2017.
He also worked as Regional Director for Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay from August 2013 to October 2016, and Regional Director for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean from November 2007 to August 2013, where he supported governments in the region through programmes on sustainable industrial development and improving the competitiveness of small businesses.
Prior to joining UNIDO, Mr. Bethke worked as an Advisor on Export Competitiveness at the International Trade Centre from December 1995 to February 2000.
He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Freie Universit?t Berlin and a Diplom-Kaufmann in Business Administration from Universit?t Erlangen-Nürnberg, both in Germany.
