Consciousness
The sculpture is made of high-quality steel alloy to provide clear high lustre in the floor plate and is in contrast with the undulating light and shadows of life from the human figure. The human footprints are embedded on the highly reflective surface plate within the sculpture. The human figure shows conflict with the wiggling and twisted metal strings that make up its being.
The artist’s work can be summarised as, the sculpted figure represents human consciousness and faces their human footprint in the metal plate below. It means to say, humankind walks a path of goodness on earth and yet conflicts with greed and want in the world.
The former President of Mongolia, Ts Elbegdorj, presented to Secretary-General António Guterres a gift from the Government of Mongolia to the United Nations, a sculpture entitled, “Consciousness”, by Mongolian artist Ochirbold Ayurzana.
The sculpture is dedicated to the historic adoption of the global developmental milestone documents – the 缅北禁地2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
