UNOCT and DPPA host BeSci Week Session on the Future of Behavioural Science for Peace and Security
The United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) hosted a virtual session on the Future of Behavioural Science for Peace and Security on 6 June. The event was part of the 6th annual .
In this session, DPPA and OCT discussed behavioural science applications in the context of peace and security with Professor Mina Cikara, Professor of Psychology and director of the Intergroup Neuroscience Lab at Harvard University and Andrés Casas, founder of the Neuropaz initiative.
The future of behavioural science in peace and security offers a nuanced approach to tackling global conflicts and threats, leveraging deep insights into human psychology and behaviour. With advancements in technology, these insights lead to more precise, culturally sensitive strategies for conflict prevention and resolution. This approach signals a shift towards interventions that address the root causes of conflict, emphasising human-centric solutions and ethical considerations.
