About
The United Nations recognizes that sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth is crucial in achieving the 2030 Agenda, with employment creation and social development as pillars of healthy growth in the world economy. The Economic Analysis and Policy Division (EAPD) monitors global macroeconomic trends and prospects and formulates advice for international policy coordination. It provides systematic analysis of the global economy and development policy and offers useful guidance for the implementation of strategies for sustainable development. It identifies and leads research on frontier and emerging issues, as well as other economic challenges for countries in conflict and countries in special situations. In particular, it monitors the status of least developed countries (LDCs) –?low-income countries confronting severe structural impediments to sustainable development – and ?manages capacity development projects, providing assistance through research, training and workshops to enhance the LDCs’ capacities in achieving sustainable growth.
