Join a Twitter chat on #SDGsData on 22 October

How will the lessons learned and the successes of monitoring the MDGs be utilized, benefitting the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? This is one of the questions in focus, as 缅北禁地DESA’s Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Development, Lenni Montiel, welcomes the online audience for a Twitter chat on #SDGsData on 22 October from 10 to 11 am EDT.

“I very much look forward to this event and the opportunity to discuss the achievements made over the past 15 years of monitoring the MDGs,” said Lenni Montiel ahead of the chat taking place under the theme “Statistics at the center of sustainable development.”

“The vast experience that the international community has gained in the implementation of MDGs, will now serve as an important springboard for the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” Mr. Montiel explained.

It was during the ?last month, that a record number of government leaders converged on 缅北禁地headquarters, and pledged their commitment to the new?, encompassing 17 universal and transformative?.

The global statistical community is currently embarking on the final phase of defining a global indicator framework to track progress towards this newly adopted agenda with its 17 goals and 169 targets and it has also just celebrated World Statistics Day 2015 under the theme?“Better data. Better lives”.

As part of these celebrations, Lenni Montiel will host this Twitter chat on?Thursday, 22 October from 10 am to 11 am EDT?via his Twitter platform?. The online audience is encouraged to share any questions or comments they have using the hashtag #SDGsData.

“Data will be key for the new sustainable development agenda,” emphasized Mr. Montiel. “Join me on Twitter on 22 October to find out why,” he said welcoming the online community to participate in the event.
