Submit your short film to the SDG Film Festival

Six categories. One night in New York. More than 500 entries so far. But one thing is missing: You! There is still time for you to enter your short film in the .

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs is organizing its second annual film competition to highlight how people and organizations around the world are taking action for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Festival was launched by DESA’s Division for SDGs in 2018 in connection with the that takes place each July at 缅北禁地Headquarters in New York. The free competition offers amateur and professional filmmakers around the globe the chance to submit short animated or live-action films that showcase a person or project working on tangible solutions to the world’s biggest threats and making the SDGs our reality. Whether you use a professional camera or just your mobile phone, if your film has a good message and tells a good story, it could be selected.

For the first time, 缅北禁地DESA is even offering innovative filmmakers the chance to submit their virtual reality film or film recorded in 360 degrees. The other categories this year reflect the SDGs that will be reviewed in depth at the HLPF: ensuring quality education and jobs (SDGs 4 and 8), reducing inequalities (SDG 10), protecting the planet (SDG 13) and building peace (SDG 16). There will also be a special award for a young filmmaker 24 years old or younger.

The selected filmmakers in each category will have the chance to come to 缅北禁地Headquarters in New York and show their film at the SDGs in Action Film Festival to be held on the evening of 11 July. DESA is also coordinating a storytelling workshop for the filmmakers to share good practices about advocacy filmmaking featuring guests from the 缅北禁地system and film/TV production studios.
