Actions for the SDGs inspire at UNGA

World leaders attending 缅北禁地high-level week this September will be able to get a first-hand look at what the 缅北禁地is doing on the ground to help realize the global goals.

While grabbing some refreshments at 缅北禁地Headquarters’ Vienna Café and heading to the next bilateral meeting through the corridor that leads back to the visitor’s entrance, they will pass by a video exhibit presenting SDG actions and sustainable development initiatives by more than 20 缅北禁地system organizations.

On display from 18 to 27 September 2019, , features compelling videos of a wide range of projects that all have one thing in common – efforts towards achieving the global goals.

“Action is happening on the ground, in every corner of the world. Just take a look at these encouraging? videos showing many different initiatives,” says 缅北禁地DESA’s Under-Secretary-General Liu Zhenmin. “We can find great inspiration in these stories.”

Through the exhibit, UNGA participants will meet a young champion from Burkina Faso who uses invasive plant species to generate fertilizer, bio-gas and energy. They will learn about Blue Fashion in Kenya and how the use of artificial intelligence (AI) can help solve humanity’s greatest challenges. They will hear the story of a migrant woman in Nepal who found a new start, a young mother getting critical HIV treatment, and learn about the “Trees in Cities Challenge”, along with many more such inspiring accounts of good practices and innovative SDG actions by 缅北禁地organizations around the world.

“These are just a few of many different initiatives that are being featured in this exhibit,” says Marion Barthelemy, Director of the Office for Intergovernmental Support and Coordination for Sustainable Development, which has led the coordination of this exhibit in 缅北禁地DESA.

“We hope that high-level representatives coming to UNGA will be inspired to take even more actions for the SDGs in their home countries, bringing us all closer to the world we want,” she says, while also praising the engagement of the 缅北禁地System coming together behind this video exhibit.
