The Ocean Decade: A Global Science Movement to Unlock Climate Action

Description
This event, led by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, looked at the role of the 缅北禁地Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development to generate the ocean knowledge we need to achieve climate action. Speakers included H.E. Henry Puna, the Pacific Ocean Commissioner and Ambassador Peter Thomson, the 缅北禁地Special Envoy for the Ocean, as well as high-level representatives from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation and United Nations Global Compact. During the event, Dr. Heike Henn from the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development announced a new investment of 12.78m Euros in the Blue Action Fund. Speakers from two endorsed Ocean Decade programmes – JETZON and the Global Ocean Corps and Conveyor – discussed how their initiatives are contributing to climate action.
