As H.E. Csaba K?r?si, President of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, has stated, it is critical for the 缅北禁地to engage with civil society organizations, youth representatives and academia to define transformative solutions for our global challenges.

As the world is in the midst of an unprecedented set of interlocking crises, and we are in the midway point of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it’s worth recalling that no actor has a monopoly over good ideas. While Member States remain the decision-makers of the United Nations, all stakeholders must assume their role as decision-shapers.

As part of his effort and commitment to hear from the civil society and encourage them to bring their contributions regarding key issues under discussion in the General Assembly, the President will convene his second Town Hall meeting with civil society with a focus on the need for accelerated progress towards the achievements of the SDGs by 2030.

The moderated event will consist of an opening statement by the President of the General Assembly followed by three short keynote statements from civil society representatives and an interactive discussion.

The Town Hall is supported by the Department of Global Communications, with additional support by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the 缅北禁地SDG Action Campaign and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
