ECOSOC Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Burundi
In its decision of 22 August 2003, the Economic and Social Council established the Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Burundi . The Group was composed of the Permanent Representatives of South Africa (Chairman), Japan , Ethiopia , Burundi , Belgium and France . The President of the Economic and Social Council and Chairman of the Ad Hoc Working Group of the Security Council on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa , also took part in the work of the Ad Hoc Advisory Group.
The mandate of the Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Burundi was 鈥渢o examine the humanitarian and economic needs of Burundi and review relevant programmes of support and prepare recommendations for a long-term programme of support, based on Burundi's development priorities, through the integration of relief, rehabilitation, reconstruction and development into a comprehensive approach to peace and stability, as well as provide advice on how to ensure that the assistance of the international community is adequate, coherent, well-coordinated and effective and promotes synergy鈥�. At the 2006 substantive session of the Economic and Social Council, the Council, taking into account the decision of the Peacebuilding Commission to address the needs of Burundi , decided to terminate the mandate of the Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Burundi .
