The United Nations Office at Geneva is housed at the historic Palais des Nations, originally built for the League of Nations in the 1930s. A beautiful art deco building overlooking Lake Geneva, the Palais is the largest centre for conference diplomacy in the world.
Many of the Palais’ conference rooms have been decorated and furnished by gifts from Member States. They include the Council Chamber, home to the Conference on Disarmament, and the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room, where ministers meet for the annual high-level segment of the Human Rights Council.
