Call for Side Events at LLDC3

The deadline for applying for side events has now passed. We thank those organizations who have submitted applications. We will be in touch with you shortly.

All accredited entities participating in LLDC3 will have the opportunity to organise side events on the margins of the conference.

Side events will take place alongside the formal programme of the LLDC3 Conference (official plenaries and roundtables) and will be an integral part of the Conference.

By filling out the following online form, interested organizations are invited to submit their applications to organize a side event.

Guidelines for applications

  • All side events will be in-person events, with each slot typically lasting 90 minutes. Due to limited availability for side events, only one submission per entity will be considered. Since all side events will take place within the Conference premises, all panel speakers and participants at side events must be registered to participate in LLDC3 by an accredited entity to gain physical access. Different procedures for accreditation apply to Member States, 缅北禁地Secretariat, specialized agencies, private sector entities, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and other institutions not part of the government.

  • Side events should contribute to the objectives of the Third United Nations Conference on the Landlocked Developing Countries. The selection process will give priority to events that showcase how the new 10-year Programme of Action for the LLDCs will be implemented or that make an announcement of a significant new initiative to support the LLDCs in achieving the goals of the new Programme of Action or the 2030 Agenda.

  • The side event application should provide a description of the event, including its thematic focus, speakers/presenters, and its potential contribution to LLDC3. It should also clearly indicate the main organizer of the event and their contact information, including the name of the on-site contact person and their cellphone. Where possible, efforts will be made to allocate side events according to preferred dates.

  • Applicants are requested to commit to a balanced gender distribution among panelists/speakers and to indicate the planned gender distribution of panelists in their application, noting that final confirmations may not be available until later.

  • Organizers are requested to provide their own nameplates on tent cards. While printing facilities are available at the conference, it is recommended that nameplates be prepared in advance and brought to the conference centre.  Organizers are responsible for all publicity efforts for their side event. They are also invited to make use of the official LLDC3 X (Twitter) hashtags, which are #LLDC3 and #landlocked.

  • Side events are organized under the full responsibility of the organizing entity. There are no rental fees for rooms for side event organizers. Musical and dance performances cannot take place in the side event rooms.

Side event organizers will be responsible for setting up, managing, and publicizing the side event. OHRLLS will not produce flyers, distribute notices, or run other publicity efforts for side events. However, the full programme of approved side events will be posted on the official LLDC3 website, along with any registration links, agenda, or background documents.

Audio-visual equipment will be available for PowerPoint projection and video projection. On-site technicians will be available to ensure that the equipment is functioning well. There will be no provisions for live-streaming or webcast. If organizations wish to use PowerPoint, they are responsible for bringing their own laptops. Organizations are responsible for any other equipment they may wish to bring but must remove the equipment promptly upon the conclusion of the side event. Organizers may bring their own banners but must remove all such material promptly after the conclusion of their event.

All queries related to side events should be addressed to Aniket Ghai ghai1@un.org and Yuki Mitsuka yuki.mitsuka@un.org.
