Romardo Lyons is a multi-award winning Jamaican journalist, with experience across both print and broadcast journalism. Currently, he works as a broadcast journalist for Television Jamaica. In 2024, he received the Prime Minister’s National Youth Award for Excellence in Journalism, the highest youth honour in the island. Romardo also won a Caribbean Media Award for Best News Reporting for his series ‘Coffee Crisis’ which focused on the many issues faced by coffee farmers in rural Jamaica. Romardo was ranked 7th in the Americas at the AIPS 2023 Sport Media Awards for the Young Reporters Writing category. In 2022, he received a special mention in the category of “Disaster Risk Reduction” at the Caribbean Broadcasting Union Caribbean Media Awards. That same year, he was a finalist for the JCS International Young Creatives Award issued by the International Emmy Awards. In 2021, he earned the Press Association of Jamaica’s Young Journalist of the Year and the Sports Journalist of the Year awards. In 2022, he was named Young Journalist of the Year again.
Romardo covers a wide range of topics including climate change, agriculture, tourism, crime and human interest stories. Romardo has also represented Jamaica at regional journalistic conferences on climate change and prison reform.
