Call for Story Submissions – LDC5

Together with , the official United Nations?News?Service, we are offering journalists from the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) an exciting opportunity to have their stories published on the 缅北禁地News website. 

To avail of this unique opportunity, submit a story of between 600-800 words that addresses one or more of the six?priority areas of the Doha Programme of Action

  1. Investing in people, eradicating poverty and building capacity 
  2. Leveraging the power of science, technology & innovation 
  3. Supporting structural transformation as a driver of prosperity 
  4. Enhancing international trade and regional integration 
  5. Tackling climate change, COVID-19 & building resilience 
  6. Mobilizing international partnerships for sustainable graduation 

Stories must preferably be human interest stories, communicate why the priorities of the Doha Programme of Action are important for people living in LDCs and refer to the upcoming 5th?缅北禁地Conference to be held in Qatar from 5-9 March, 2023. 

The content received can be in any of the 缅北禁地News languages [Six official 缅北禁地languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish, plus Portuguese, Swahili and Hindi] 

  • Submissions are open until 15 January, 2023
  • Journalists wishing to share story ideas for feedback can send their ideas to Mr. Damien Sass at: sass@un.org until 2 January, 2023. 
  • Submit your story in a Microsoft Word document.  
  • Photos must be accompanied by the following information: 
    • Name of the photographer 
    • Caption explaining the photo; include location and date taken.  
  • Non text-based stories, such as video, radio and photo journalism will also be considered but they must be accompanied by text; in the case of video and radio reports, they must be accompanied by a transcript and photos must be accompanied by text providing context to the photos. 

Please note that not all stories will be published and there will be no monetary reward for stories that do get published.
