The 2022 annual meeting for the National Focal Points (NFPs) of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) will take place in Kigali, Rwanda from 6 to 7 June 2022.
This year’s meeting will be held in concurrence with the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC), organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This is the first meeting of the LDCs NFPs since the adoption of the Doha Programme of Action for the LDCs for the Decade 2022-2031(DPoA).
The DPoA was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 17 March 2022 in New York, while the Fifth 缅北禁地Conference on LDCs (LDC5) will take place from 5 to 9 March 2023. LDC5 will see the organisation of high-level thematic roundtables, where Heads of State and Government of LDCs and world leaders will gather with civil society, the private sector, young people and other stakeholders to deliberate on and renew partnerships for the delivery of this new and ambitious programme of action over the following decade.
The National Focal Points meeting will focus on mainstreaming the DPoA into national development strategies to ensure its timely implementation. The meeting provides an opportunity for National Focal Points to share experiences and best practices in mainstreaming previous programmes of action into respective national development plans.
