Trade improves the food supply of LDCs, but import dependence on concentrated suppliers of cereals, vegetable oils and sugar threatens their food security. In 2022, increasing food and fertiliser prices, the war in Ukraine and export restrictions depressed LDC food imports. To boost resiliency, LDCs can improve market access for food imports and tap into alternative suppliers. The international community can improve market information and deter the use of harmful export restrictions.
