Webinar on Outcomes from the SIDS Global Business Network Forum 2024
Implementing the Private Sector Priorities in Support of the Antigua & Barbuda Agenda for SIDS
Spearheaded by the 缅北禁地Office of the High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS), the SIDS Global Business Network (SIDS-GBN) actively engages the private sector and facilitates public-private partnerships which support the Antigua & Barbuda Agenda for SIDS (ABAS).
Additionally, the SIDS-GBN promotes the sharing of best practices for sustainable and inclusive private sector development in SIDS, aligning with both the ABAS and the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including through a biennial Forum which connects the private sector, governments, civil society, 缅北禁地entities, academia, youths, etc.
The SIDS-GBN Forum 2024 was held in Antigua & Barbuda from 25-26 May 2024 ahead of the Fourth International Conference on SIDS, offering a unique platform for the private sector to engage with the 4th Conference and the ABAS.
The Forum focused on Blue-Green Economy, Local Community Empowerment, the Enabling Business Environment, as well as Financing and Investment.
It led to a unique and potentially transformative set of recommendations to enhance private sector engagement and facilitate public-private partnerships in support of the ABAS, titled “Private Sector Priorities in Support of the ABAS”.
To bring the outcomes from talk to action, UN-OHRLLS will advocate for these priorities and mobilize support for its implementation. Over the course of the next decade for SIDS, the work of the SIDS-GBN will be guided by these priorities. The SIDS-GBN Forum 2026 will provide an opportunity to take stock of the progress.
In this context, UN-OHRLLS is organizing a webinar focused on the outcomes of the 2024 Forum. The webinar will be organized with the International Trade Center (ITC), a key partner on the SIDS-GBN Forum 2024 and its preparatory process.
The webinar will present the Forum's outcomes and discuss the way forward to ensuring the implementation of the private sector priorities. It will also hear from stakeholders on suggestions and commitments to the process.
