United Nations system support for Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want (2024)
This report provides an overview of the main activities undertaken by the United Nations in support of the Agenda 2063 of the African Union. In the context of the negotiations for the global digital compact, to be adopted in September 2024, the report is focused on the contributions of the digital transition to sustainable development in Africa. The report provides an overview of the potential of digital technologies for economic growth through innovation and job creation and an assessment of how digitalization can help to enhance governance, economic inclusion, social cohesion, peace and stability and increase resilience and climate adaptation. It contains a review of the work of the United Nations and a summary of major advocacy efforts. The report contains highlights of progress made in promoting stronger coordination among United Nations entities and with the African Union.
