From 17-18 December 2019, in the context of the global initiative on digital evidence, the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) jointly organized with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the regional workshop for criminal-justice practitioners of Central Asia on “Obtaining Electronic Evidence from the Internet Service Providers (SPs) in Counter-Terrorism and related Organized Crime Cross-Border Investigations”. In order to ensure coordination of efforts and make use of available regional expertise, the global initiative has partnered with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Thanks to this partnership, the Practical Guide for Requesting Electronic Evidence Across Borders (launched in September 2018), which is one of the key outputs of the project, has been translated into Russian and was used in the training of relevant officials. The workshop was attended by representatives of central authorities and ministries of the Interior and National Security of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as experts of Canada and the United States.
