Title

Todos Hombres del Mundo (Reassembling History Towards Posterity)

Gift ID:
UNNY099G

Todos Hombres del Mundo is a bronze sculpture by Argentine artist Marta Minujin. Minujin is mainly known for her “happenings” – events as works of art themselves, interpreting the politics of the world through her art.

Minujin’s sculptures demonstrate a reinterpretation of classical art from a contemporary point of view. With her work she inserts tradition in the problems of the post-modern world.

Todos Hombres del Mundo features seven composite heads sliced and re-assembled into a kind of collage of faces. The fragments of faces are meant to represent the many different people in all of us.

The gift was presented by the Permanent Representative of Argentina to the United Nations, H.E. Dr. Carlos M. Muniz, on December 10, 1984. Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar accepted the gift on behalf of the United Nations.
