A programme of parallel events or activities which was organized outside the formal programme of the fifty-fifth session of the Commission provided an excellent opportunity for Member States, 缅北禁地entities and NGOs to discuss themes of the Commission and other critical gender equality issues.

Agreed conclusions

The outcome of the Commission鈥檚 consideration of the priority theme takes the form of agreed conclusions, negotiated by all States. These identify gaps and challenges in the implementation of previous commitments. They also provide action-oriented recommendations for all States, relevant non-governmental bodies, mechanisms and entities of the 缅北禁地System and other relevant stakeholders, in order to accelerate implementation.

The Commission on the Status of Women is expected to resume its session in the course of March, to complete action on all outstanding isues.

Draft agreed conclusions presented by the Bureau of the CSW

Preparation

In preparation for the fifty-fifth session, the Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW), now part of 缅北禁地Women, organized an from 7 to 20 July 2010, as well as a podcast in cooperation with .

In collaboration with the , DAW convened an from 28 September to 1 October 2010 in Paris, France.

A preparatory expert panel was also held during the on Thursday, 4 March 2010.
