Informal thematic debate on the theme "Gender equality and the empowerment of women" (6 - 8 March 2007)

From 6 to 8 March 2007, the President of the 61st session of the General Assembly, , organized an informal thematic debate of the Assembly on the theme "Gender equality and the empowerment of women". The event consisted of a general debate with more than 80 speakers, including 20 Ministers, and two interactive panel discussions on "women in decision-making" and "the empowerment of women, including microfinance".
