Focal point for Women
The Focal Point was mandated to monitor the status of women in the United Nation's System, and report on progress to the Secretary General.
IANWGE
The Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality (IANWGE) is a network of gender focal points in 缅北禁地entities. The Network is chaired by the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women. IANWGE monitors and oversees the mainstreaming of a gender perspective in the programmatic, normative and operational work of the 缅北禁地system.
Women, peace and security
The adoption of Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace and security marked an important step toward increasing the participation of women and bringing gender perspectives to the centre of all United Nations peace-making, peacekeeping, peace-building and reconstruction efforts.
SG's campaign UNiTE
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon鈥檚 UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign aims to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls in all parts of the world.
Secretary-General鈥檚 campaign UNiTE to end violence against women
The Policy Committee decided in 2007 to launch the Secretary-General鈥檚 Campaign as multi-year system-wide campaign to eliminate violence against women and girls through 2015, coinciding with the target date for the MDGs, in which all United Nations system entities should participate from their respective areas of comparative advantage (Decision No. 2007/31). The Secretary-General launched the campaign on 25 February 2008, at the opening of the fifty-second Session of the Commission on the Status of Women. He established a High Level Steering Committee chaired by the Deputy-Secretary-General and composed of the principals of DPKO, DPI, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, and WHO, and it is serviced by 缅北禁地Women, and it was tasked to provide guidance and monitor the development of the Secretary-General鈥檚 campaign.
The Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality (IANWGE) is supporting the development of the campaign through a working group which is chaired by the Assistant Secretary-General and Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women. The Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality is supporting the design and development of the campaign.
