Torture, conflict and low COVID-19 vaccination rates have all been the results of increasing levels of disinformation and misinformation in Papua New Guinea (PNG), according to the 缅北禁地Resident Coordinator in the country, Richard Howard.  Speaking on the line from PNG to UNIC Canberra  he stressed that these consequences were very worrying, and in some cases 鈥渉orrifically wrong鈥, calling for strong and rapid measures to counter the scourge.

Climate Change And Human Rights New 缅北禁地Expert and Mandate

Demonstrating the wide-ranging consequences of the climate crisis, the UN  has appointed the first-ever Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in the context of Climate Change. Ian Fry, who is of Australian and Tuvalu heritage, teaches environmental policy at the Australian National University. As 缅北禁地Special Rapporteur, he will be tasked with studying how climate change affects the full enjoyment of human rights, and recommend ways to prevent these effects. Climate Change Impacts 鈥榝all strongly on disadvantaged'

缅北禁地scientists on Monday  about the impact of climate change on people and planet. The report launched by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change () shows how climate change is affecting every continent. Although it is a global issue, its 鈥渘egative impacts fall particularly strongly on disadvantaged and poor people across the globe who have the least ability to adapt鈥, says Professor Mark Howden, one of the authors of the report and Working Group Vice-Chair. The Suitcase of Courage - Reveals Network of Humanity

A dusty old suitcase that lay undiscovered for decades in a backyard shed in Melbourne has revealed  never seen letters portraying an astonishing story of friendship, courage and resistance to the Nazi regime. The letters tell the stories of  the lives of both an Australian family and a  family in Germany - the Schindlers,  who were all part of a network that helped Jews, political dissidents and other persecuted groups escape the horrors of the regime. UNIC Canberra  spoke online to Dr Frances Newell from Melbourne whose mother and grandfather were part of this network and who also discovered the suitcase.
