Side Events

During the Third Counter-Terrorism Week, to be held from 19 to 23 June 2023, 40 side events will be co-organized by over 75 stakeholders comprising Member States, United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact entities, intergovernmental organizations, civil society, academia and faith-based organizations from all geographical regions to enhance multilateral efforts and common approach to tackle terrorism and violent extremism.

The side events will cover topics relevant to the overarching theme of the Third United Nations High-Level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of Member States and CT Week, namely, “Addressing terrorism through reinvigorated multilateralism and institutional cooperation” and key counter-terrorism priorities under the four pillars of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.

These side events will provide a platform to share best practices and lessons learned in the prevention and countering of terrorism and violent extremism, including through integration of human rights and gender equality, including promotion and respect for human rights and rule of law;

  • strengthening effective and resilient institutions in the field of counter-terrorism;
  • utilization of new and emerging technologies;
  • behavioural approach in counter-terrorism;
  • civil society engagement in the field of counter-terrorism;
  • fostering multilateral coordination to tackle the scourge of terrorism; and
  •  enhancing capacity-building activities
