Connect & Learn Wins 2024 Learning Platform of the Year Award

UNOCT’s e-learning platform “” was recognized as the Learning Platform of the Year at the 2024 Learning Awards. The awards are presented annually by the Learning and Performance Institute in the United Kingdom and considered as “the highest accolade in workplace learning and development.”

Thanking the panel of judges for the recognition, UNOCT Director, Mauro Miedico said, “This accolade stands as a testament to our unwavering dedication and commitment to excellence in the field of Learning and Development within counter-terrorism endeavors.” In addition to the opportunities for virtual training and education provided through the platform, he highlighted Connect & Learn’s communities of practice, “a vibrant arena where counter-terrorism practitioners globally converge to exchange ideas, propose innovative solutions, and embark on joint initiatives.”

The recognition was awarded to UNOCT and the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC), which hosts and supports the technical interface for Connect & Learn. It was presented following an extensive evaluation by a judging panel, comprising learning and development experts who examined how well the platform met organizational needs, gained stakeholder support, engaged learners, and demonstrated impact.

 is UNOCT's flagship educational tool that offers a variety of self-paced modules and instructor-led courses on countering terrorism and preventing violent extremism (PCVE) and allows users to connect in thematic communities of practice. The training materials and resources cover a broad range of topics, for example Cyber Security and New Technologies; Promotion of Sport and Its Values as a Tool to Prevent Violent Extremism; Strategic Communications; and Behavioural Insights to counter terrorism.

The platform currently hosts 66 online training courses and 25 communities of practice, bringing together more than 7,200 users from 193 countries, among them Member States, the 缅北禁地family, regional organizations, academia, research institutes, civil society, and the private sector. 

The Connect & Learn platform is supported by the Republic of Korea and the State of Qatar.
