Muhannad Hadi knew that humanitarian work was his calling from an early age. Now 缅北禁地Deputy Special Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, he is devoting himself to helping to alleviate the unimaginable suffering in Gaza.
“They told me that agony, 24/7. They told me what they go through from the morning until they drop asleep, out of exhaustion. And I promised that I will tell the story,” Mr. Hadi?shares.
The 缅北禁地estimates that the ongoing conflict in Gaza has displaced up to 1.9 million people – 90 per cent?of the population – many of whom have fled multiple times.
In the final episode of season 9?of Awake at Night, Hadi reflects on the horrendous conditions in Gaza, the importance of having a supportive family, and how his time volunteering in Jordan led to a lifelong humanitarian career.
“In any war, the first victim is the truth. The second is the women and the children… that's why they call it 'manmade' crisis. And I always say you need a woman-made solution for a manmade crisis. And those women need to be given a voice,” he says.
