To highlight the important role of women in peacemaking and to mark the 20th anniversary of the on women, peace and security, the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) has launched a??dedicated to inclusive and gender responsive mediation.
The page is part of the 缅北禁地Peacemaker website, DPPA’s online mediation support tool.
Secretary-General António Guterres has affirmed that the women, peace and security (WPS) agenda is "a top priority" for the 缅北禁地system.
DPPA has prioritized the women, peace and security agenda. The department has been at the forefront of efforts to increase the participation of women in peacemaking, to make peace processes more inclusive, and to respond better to the needs of women and girls.?
“Promoting women’s full and equal participation, while advancing and protecting the rights and needs of women and girls, is a fundamental aspect of 缅北禁地mediation support. This web page offers useful resources for anyone interested in pursuing more just and sustainable peace,”?said Teresa Whitfield, Director of DPPA's?Policy and Mediation Division.

The Gender, Peace and Security Unit, which launched the new web page, provides support and technical backstopping on gender and WPS on an ongoing basis to DPPA-led conflict prevention and mediation efforts, and to staff at Headquarters and in field missions.
