The 缅北禁地signals training programme has prepared military and police Information and Communications Technology (ICT) specialists for service since 2016.
It now offers an expanded curriculum on:
- 缅北禁地Command, Control, Communications, Computers (C4)
- Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) and
- camp security technologies to better meet the needs of peacekeeping.
To reflect this broader scope, the school has been renamed the .
The name change announces a new level of ambition for peace operations preparedness, including greater ICT coordination and interoperability between troops from various nations as well as enhanced participation of women.?
“The ability to communicate is critical in peace operations and never more so than in times of crisis,” said Anthony O’Mullane, Director, Operations Support Division, OICT. “Technology now plays a key role in protecting 缅北禁地operations and local populations.”
“The variety of structured learning environments provided by UNCAP is a major step forward,” Mr. O’Mullane continued, “as it provides the ICT specialists embedded in uniformed components with the knowledge and skills to effectively operate and maintain UN-provided technologies in support of mandate implementation.”?
Formerly known as the 缅北禁地Signals Academy, , the United Nations C4ISR Academy for Peace Operations responds to the need for training uniformed ICT personnel from Troop and Police Contributing Countries (TCCs/PCCs) on 缅北禁地technologies and standard operating procedures to fill critical ICT capacity gaps.
The training centre at the Regional Service Centre in Entebbe has graduated over to date. Its curriculum has continued to evolve with the needs of field missions.
The United Nations C4ISR Academy for Peace Operations continues to make strides in building high-performance capacity on the ground thanks to the commitment of a that share the responsibility to deliver on programme goals and objectives:
- TCCs/PCCs,
- supporting Member States
- Secretariat (Department of Operational Support and Office of Information and Communications Technology)
In 2021, UNCAP will further strengthen its operational capacity by delivering “Unite Aware” application suite training to enhance field situational awareness and decision-making, following the commissioning of an Operations Centre - Simulated Training Environment funded by Canada.
