Participants from around the world came together at the June 9 Global Summit Dialogue: , to discuss their views, perspectives, and ideas on how the world’s food systems need to be transformed for people and for the environment and build on existing efforts to ensure synergies between the 缅北禁地Food Systems Summit and international processes surrounding climate, biodiversity, and desertification.
The food and agriculture sector are responsible for 70 per cent of water withdrawals, the use of 38 per cent of ice-free land, and generating up to a third of anthropogenic greenhouse gases and 60 per cent of biodiversity loss. At the same time, climate change is affecting food security due to warming, changing precipitation patterns, and greater frequency of extreme events. Promoting a healthy environment is therefore critical for guaranteeing food security and nutrition for a growing population.

This Dialogue was co-convened by Special Envoy to the 缅北禁地Food Systems Summit Dr. Agnes Kalibata, and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme, .
The 缅北禁地Food Systems Summit provides an opportunity to address gaps and develop solutions to feed the world through food systems that are good for people, the planet, and our future.
