LDC5 Private Sector Forum Announcements

PSF Announcements

Stakeholders attending the Private Sector Forum are invited to make announcements at the Forum in support of the least developed countries (LDCs).

Partnerships should:

  • Be LDC-specific and related to the key focus areas of the new Doha Programme of Action.
  • Present innovative solutions that can deliver transformative change in LDCs by promoting sustainable economic growth.
  • Have a clear role for the private sector in the implementation and could include partnerships between the private sector and governments, foundations, and other non-state actors and the United Nations system as well as private to private partnerships
  • Have concrete deliverables and could include but not limited to: commitments for direct investment, facilitate technology transfer, leverage research and innovation and build the necessary capacities and technical competencies of LDCs, mobilize financial and technical support to LDCs in areas such as support to MSMEs, entrepreneur development, access to market for LDC companies, create an enabling business framework in LDCs, commitment from private sector to support ESG principles, sustainable development practices
  • Have resources for implementation and mechanisms for follow-up

If you plan to make an announcement at the Forum, please ensure that your announcement follows the SMART criteria (Specific and related to supporting LDCs, Measurable - include an indicator of progress, Assignable - specify who will do it, Realistic - state what results can realistically be achieved, and Time-bound - specify when the result(s) can be achieved).

By making an announcement at the Forum, you are consenting to periodically providing updates on progress made towards the goals of the announcement.

What can be Announced?

Partnerships in support of LDC private sector

An announcement of a new or scaled up partnership (for example with an LDC(s) including LDC governments, LDC private sector, non-State actors and others). Announcements can also be made by entities partnering in support of LDCs. Partnerships must have a clear role for or support LDC private sector.

Financial

An announcement announcing a financial commitment in support of LDC private sector (for example with an LDC(s), with an LDC government, LDC private sector, or other LDC stakeholder)

Policy

An announcement such as a regulatory reform or policy change which will support LDC private sector.

Advocacy

An announcement where an entity(s) publicly supports or promotes (for example through research, MOUs) LDCs in their industry, network, events, or publications.

Programmatic

An announcement related to the creation or expansion of existing programs in support of LDCs.
