About country commitments

Within the framework of the 缅北禁地Decade of Action on Nutrition, commitments are referred to as commitments for action on nutrition, to drive concrete actions at national or local level that will help improve nutrition by 2025. These commitments can be financial or non-financial and should reflect national priorities and respond to the country’s nutrition situation and current food and health systems.

 

S.M.A.R.T. commitments

Commitments that are SMART – specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound – help all stakeholders understand what action is intended and improve tracking. Governments can establish SMART commitments that are:

  • based on existing food and nutrition policies and action plans;
  • in line with transformative ambitions of the (ICN2), the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the ;
  • within action areas not previously covered by existing policies and action plans.

 

Formulation of commitments

A , prepared by the (FAO) and the (WHO), can be used to formulate country-specific commitments. This guide aims at guiding countries to translate the 60 recommended policy options and actions of the into country-specific SMART commitments for action.

 

Commitments database

Commitments can be submitted continuously throughout the course of the Nutrition Decade to the joint FAO/WHO Secretariat of the Nutrition Decade. Government commitments under the Nutrition Decade will be included in an online repository.
