Venance Shillingi

Dr. Venance Shillingi (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer, researcher, and Strategic Management consultant at Mzumbe University's School of Public Administration and Management (SOPAM) in Morogoro, Tanzania. He has a PhD in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Nairobi, Kenya, as well as an MBA (Corporate Management) and a Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) from Mzumbe University in Tanzania. He has written about strategies, conflicts, private securities, quality service delivery, and strategic plan implementation. His research tradition is pragmatism (mixed method design), and he is interested in strategy, strategic management, land conflicts, and the effects of climate change on farmers and pastoralists. Dr. Shillingi has over 15 years of experience; and has consulted and trained broadly in areas of strategic management, strategic leadership, change management, and other related management courses. Also, has consulted in review and preparation of strategic plans (for over 40 firms in the private and public sectors), client service charters, Training Needs Assessments (TNA), and training programme development. He has supervised one PhD student, 70+ master's students (thesis), and 150+ undergraduate students (field research). Furthermore, is a research collaborator with the Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies (BICC), Germany on the CRC/TR 228 "Future Rural Africa" project component titled "Large scale land use changes and Transformations of Pastoralists." The CRC project is being carried out in collaboration with various research institutions and universities in Africa and Germany. He is also a Research Associate at the Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies (BICC), which is Bonn, Germany. Dr. Shillingi is married to Sarah R. Mngoya and father of four.
