Stefania Giannini, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education reflects on the impact of STEM education on Africa's future, including its potential to drive advancements in healthcare, infrastructure, energy, and agriculture. She also discusses the underrepresentation of women and girls in STEM education, emphasizing the importance of mobilizing support to boost the current figures. The Assistant Director-General highlights UNESCO's unwavering commitment to promoting quality STEM education in Africa,  toward the realization of Agenda 2063's vision of inclusive and sustainable development.

Uma Rani, Senior Economist at the ILO's Research Department and lead author of the  report, reflects on the current state of STEM education in Africa and the challenges and opportunities it holds for generating decent jobs for Africa's youth.
