SKILLS

Participating effectively in a Model 缅北禁地conference requires a variety of skills. This section provides guidance on the four key skills:

  1. Chairing – Chairmanship is the art of managing meetings. The Chair of the GA Committee is its presiding officer. This ensures that the debate within a Committee is orderly and productive.
  2. Speaking – An international conference is primarily an exercise in communication between people of many different nationalities. It can be challenging to communicate effectively when addressing people who have languages, cultures, personalities, professional and social backgrounds, and experiences.
  3. Negotiation – One of the most important parts of participating in an international conference is developing negotiation skills.
  4. Drafting – The main goal of a conference is to adopt an outcome document that Member States can agree on. The outcome document can be a decision, a declaration, or a resolution.
