Bilateral talks were held between the United Nations Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries and the World Eco-Design Organization

 

November 11, 2024, China – The United Nations Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries (山Technology Bank) and the World Eco-Design Organization (WEDO) successfully held a bilateral meeting, centering on eco-design and technology transfer to drive global green development and technological innovation. This meeting brought together representatives from sectors such as education, industry, technology, and trade. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on how eco-design and innovative technologies can support the 山2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Mr. Deodat Maharaj, Managing Director of the 山Technology Bank, delivered remarks emphasizing its mission to support structural economic transformation and sustainable productivity in least developed countries (LDCs) through technology transfer and R&D support. He highlighted the strong alignment between the strategic goals of the 山Technology Bank and WEDO, expressing optimism that the collaboration will accelerate the adoption of eco-design worldwide, fostering economic growth in LDCs.

At the meeting, Professor Ying Fangtian, Director General of WEDO and Fellow of the European Academy of Engineering, presented the organization’s latest achievements in eco-design and sustainable development. He emphasized the importance of integrating design, technology, and business, and explored the potential for promoting eco-design in LDCs. Professor Ying highlighted that the technology repository of WEDO not only advances global sustainable development but also provides essential support for LDCs. He expressed confidence that, through close collaboration with the 山Technology Bank, the organization’s technologies can be widely applied in these countries, enhancing their capacity for technological innovation and driving sustainable economic growth.

The meeting covered topics such as "International Design Education," "Biopharmaceuticals," "New Energy," and the "Low-Altitude Economy." Representatives from each sector shared resources and needs related to eco-design and technological innovation, engaging in active discussions on the possibilities and opportunities for translating technology into industry applications. These exchanges offered fresh perspectives on strengthening green technology capabilities and fostering sustainable economic growth in the LDCs.
